Italy - Saturday & Sunday

I guess I need to keep going on my Italy re-cap.

Like I had said earlier, we left our bags at the hotel, and wandered around for awhile. We stopped at a little cafe to get some breakfast since we were starving & had our 1st cappuccino of the trip. Our day was pretty much spent wandering around the Roman Forum. We saw the Forum from every angle possible because we were trying to figure out where you could get a guided tour. We had no luck, but did lots of walking, and saw a lot the 1st day.

After wandering around for awhile we ventured back to the hotel to see if our room was ready, which it was, so we checked in & showered & napped for a bit. The time difference/traveling all day wore us out. Once we got up and ready we stopped for some pizza, and did some more walking seeing the Pantheon (which was closed at the time) and the Trevi Fountain. We were going to go see the Santa Maria Maggiore but we were both worn out, so we stopped at a corner restaurant and had a beer and called in an early night.

Decided we weren't going to set our alarm for Sunday, and didn't realize how late we slept into, but it was close to 10:00 when we finally got up. Decided we'd do a bus tour of the city today, so we walked to the Termini Station and saw all the highlights of Rome.

After we saw everything we rode on the bust and got off at Piazza Navona and found a place for lunch. Eating there was little difficult especially when the waiters didn't speak much English. But we were able to order and eat a delicious lunch. We walked around Piazza Navona, and then made our way to see the Spanish Steps. Sat there and people watched for awhile.

Decided then to head over to the Pantheon. Did an audio tour of that, so it was nice to be able to hear all about it.

Decided to stop right outside of the Pantheon for a couple of beers. Mark ordered a litre, and brought back memories of our Germany trip. Sat there for awhile, and people watched. We ended up sitting next to 2 girls who were from L.A. & D.C. -- what a small world. Was cool to see the Pantheon lit up at night. We then wandered over to the Trevi Fountain so we could see that lit up at night. And then called it a night (of course we had to stop for pizza on the way back to the hotel...)
